EVENT 1.2 - HOSPITAL VISITS

A video message will be sent to the phones of all new arrivals in HQ at 10:45 am on the 5th. The video message contains the following spoken by a friendly dark haired woman:

"Hello everyone, I should have met you before but I was away on family business. My name is Rachel Flores and I'm one of the heads of the Hospital Wing. I've been told that a few of you have already had physicals but if anyone has any specific question I'm here to help however I can. I hope to meet all of you in time."

Her voice cuts off and a bright happy smile filled the video. A young girl, about the age of ten, climbed onto Rachel's lap.

"Hello. I'm Belle, mommy is the best so you should come and say hi!"

Rachel smiled at the young girl before addressing the video once more.

"My office is in the Hospital Wing. Please tell the front desk when you arrive and I'll be there."

Those who arrive at the hospital will be instructed to Rachel's office or to a general practitioner if they don't have any questions. Please use this post to tag Rachel as well as create open posts to tag each other before and after the physicals.

(Set before Kristen leaves HQ for some badly needed shopping)

Kristen's kitten heels made a graceful clicking across the floor since she had decided to simply get this over with. She had a growing shopping list in her mind as she waited to properly speak with Rachel plus a growing plan of attack in terms of employment,"See if NYPD is hiring on the civilian side, proper clothes for an office setting, books, small TV, proper teapot and a small radio for the moment." rattling off her shopping list but not knowing she could be heard.

Harry wanted to talk to the lady in charge, when he got his physical, since he was going to apply for a hospital job, but also since he wondered if his odd traits would be known to her without explanation.

So he went, and knocked at Rachel's door, nibbling one lip, and unsure as to if this was wise. What the heck was he doing?

There was one thing about Allen that Allen knew he would need to ask about. To explain since he was sure at this point no one would be aware of his left arm and why it was... odd compared to his right. So he had come with questions before he actually did his physical.

Lightly he tapped on the door, wondering how long he would have to wait before he would be called in. While he waited, he looked around to see who else was about.

When Kristen was ushered inside of the small office she'd notice the young girl Belle sitting in one of the two seats in front of Rachel's desk. The older woman smiled with wrinkles that implied that she smiled a lot. Belle was behaving and remaining silent while kicking her feet in the air.

The office was comfortable: there was a large potted plant sitting behind her to the right, two comfortable chairs in front of her dark cherry desk and a computer placed on top of it. There were a few family photos up of Rachel, Belle and a dark haired man that's assumed to be Belle's father. The woman gestured to the seat in front of her.

"How can I help you? There should be doctors for basic physicals but I'm happy to answer any questions that you have." Her tone was motherly and attentive.

A sweet motherly voice echoed from with the office. "Come in."

The office was comfortable: there was a large potted plant sitting behind her to the right, two comfortable chairs in front of her dark cherry desk and a computer placed on top of it. There were a few family photos up of Rachel, Belle and a dark haired man that's assumed to be Belle's father. The woman gestured to the seat in front of her.

"You're one of the new arrivals?" She looked up from her paper work and smiled at him. Just as Allen walked in he'll see Airy and Belle sitting on one of the seats. Airy flashed him a smile before guiding the younger girl from the office and closing the door behind her. "How can I help you?"

[Grace wants to go outside but she can't help but feel nervous and scared at the prospect of being in the hospital wing.

She can be found in the waiting area trying her best to keep up a brave face. She's never seen anything like this in the Enchanted Forest and she doesn't know what to expect. Anyone looking at her will see her as a nervous child though she's sitting perfectly still waiting to hear her name be called.]

Harry entered and smiled as he stepped in. "Well, I need to get a medical exam, and I would like, in addition, to talk about working here in the medical area."

He moved to the seat in front of her, slowly sitting, politely keeping his gaze on her.

"That's right." He figured he would stand out even if he wasn't considering he was a kid with hair he was pretty sure no normal kid would want in terms of colour. Stepping further in, he was keeping his arms at the side. taking a small breath he was sure he should bring it up.

"I needed to know something when it came to examinations? Since well... not sure how it would work when it comes to my left arm since it's not... exactly normal."

"Just seeking a routine physical, the prospect of freedom and job hunting is worth it." Kristen decided to use a touch of humor. "And I can just smell the resale shops calling my name." with a smile since she was also joking around a bit. And if she was being truthful this was pretty nerve wracking,"Sorry for the list making, the to-do list keeps growing it seems.

Rachel smiled at him. "Of course, have you worked in a hospital before?"

Rachel smiled at him, her expression motherly and warm. "We have a way of handling with many different things here. Do you feel comfortable talking to me about your arm?"

Belle giggled and then quickly placed her fingers over her lips when her mother gave her a disapproving look. "Once we have you checked out you'll be free to roam." She assumed that Charles gave them all the appropreate warnings.

"There have been those instructed to give you precedence and I promise the physicals won't be taxing. It'll take a day for you to be cleared and we'll send you a message on your phone."

Rachel was happy to answer questions however she did have to get back to work if Kristen didn't have anything else. There will be a doctor outside to guide her through the exam.

Harry nodded.

"I'd just started working at St. Mungo's a couple of months ago. It's part of the training to be an Auror in my country, which is like a magical cop, really. But we need to know a lot of different things, so we are trained in the healing arts, first."

He smiled to her in turn.

He nodded slightly. he was nervous, but he knew it was something he had to bring up. After all that was why he was here.

"Yeah. I'm fine talking about it." He had moved further into the room, before moving to remove the glove he made sure he would wear for the time being, holding it out to show "It's made of a substance from my world called innocence."

Rachel nodded her head. "We'll you'll have to start with errands, all new employees do but if you are able to show me your magic and it's extent I'd be happy to put you on a track towards our healing sections."

She used magic in most of her cures.

Rachel looked down at his hand curiously, reaching out with her magic to simply touch the surface of his hand.

"And what is this innocence?"

"Of course. I'm always willing to earn my keep." Harry smiled, enthused about being able to work there, eyes on hers.

"Just let me know when you want to do the magic show and tell, and I'll be there." He nodded.

"Innocence is a substance I don't know a lot about personally. I know that it can be used to save Akuma back home by destroying the shell the soul is trapped in. Since only innocence can do that." Allen paused, wondering how things were going back home again. Were soul being saved, were there many more that weren't? Many more people daily were they getting changed or what?

Rachel held up a hand. "I apologize but I don't know what Akuma is either. Can you start at the beginning? I can probably tell you the form of magic if I know what it's used for."

She needed context but she was patient and kind. She'd give Allen the time he needed to explain.

Rachel laughed softly. "I'll need to coordinate with Cairn and Charles but once I have I'll let you know. I'm sure you're used to things running quicker but it might be in a week or two. There is always a lot to do. I hope you don't mind."

"Of course." Harry smiled. "I'm in no hurry. I've got plenty to learn and do around here." He chuckled. "I've never been to America before."

He nodded slightly, but what he knew of innocence was not much, but he figured if he could explain what Akuma and Dark Matter was, it might help. But trying to figure out what might be useful and what might were starting to make his head hurt.

"Start at the beginning...I think I can do that, but I'm not sure how much exact information I can actually give since my knowledge is only very basic."

"Just tell me what you know."

Rachel could wait for him to organize his thoughts. "It's alright if you leave things out or if there are things you don't know." She smiled. "I'm here to help you to the best of my abilities Allen. Of course we can also schedule a time to do some tests if you're connected to something like magic we can find it."

They have a lot of tools and abilities.

"You're from England then?" She could tell that he had an accent but Rachel hasn't traveled enough to know exactly what dialect his accent came from.

"My husband travels a lot. I have only been across the seas a few times and since having Belle I've stayed close." It was a side affect of parent hood. "We can supply some maps of the city if you'd like. I'm sure Airy's been collecting things."

She was just the type of person to do that and as one of Airy's teachers Rachel knew her idiosyncrasies.

Harry bobbed his head, his cheeks heating. "Yes, ma'am." He grinned at her, eyes alight with the green that reminded everyone so much of his mother. One thing he was glad to escape here. "I was born and raised a little outside London."

He listened and nodded, then blinked. She was a mom? Really? She was young and... he shook his head.

"I'd like that, please. Wait, are you Airy's Rachel? the one she talks about?" He hadn't meant it to sound like that, but he smiled.

Rachel smiled. "I have no idea what she's saying but most likely. I'm one of Airy's teachers since my grandfather is often away or handling Nathaniel."

Despite Rachel's apparent age she's in her late twenties and Belle, her daughter, is five.

"She said you might more know more about how we got here. How her magic worked, per se." He canted his head, pushing his glasses back up his nose.

"Your grandfather?" He was curious, now.

"Right now we have quite a few theories but we don't want to cause mass panic and with such little evidence it seems unwise to publicize our thoughts." She smiled understanding Harry's frustration. "I'm sorry but you must understand that this might be the start of something we weren't prepared for and as those in charge we need to handle it carefully, for everyone's safety."

She exhaled and continued. "My grandfather is one of the teacher here, along with myself. He's..." Rachel smiled fondly now. "Hard to get along with but he has a good heart. He isn't interested in seeing those who've arrived just yet. If you can imagine he's very busy. As for Airy's magic, she's what we call the Creator. She is the only one in the world who can create something out of nothing. I'm unsure if magic where you're from is similar but Newton's Laws of Physics still apply here. Nothing can be created or destroyed. Magic, when used, channels our own latent energy and forms it into the shape we want. Creators don't follow those rules and there is only ever one born at a time, at least as far as well know. There hasn't been a Creator in a long time so our knowledge is limited and Airy often tries to test things to see how they work."

Rachel was one of Airy's teachers when it came to magic and she knew that Airy was open enough that she wouldn't mind her talking about it.

Harry nodded, listening to her words. He opened his mouth, then closed it on a thought, and nodded instead again.

Harry smiled at her words, listening. "Sounds like you have a complex group here. " As far as magic, he nodded. "Well, not out of nothing, but we can make things out of, well, what appears to be nothing, by converting matter to matter, and energy to matter."

He turned to face a small open spot on the foot, pointed and concentrated, and a du0plicate of the chair he was on, but with cushions, and green, appeared. "Like so."

Her words reminded him of something. "I need to read a refresher on the laws of physics."

He liked Airy also. "I am curious about working with her."

"Then your magic is similar to our own." Though they rarely use it for things like duplicating chairs. "At least in what it's constructed by. I'll work with Cairn about getting something set up for those who can use magic or wish to learn. I'm afraid my grandfather isn't the most trusting man but I might be able to convince him with a little bit of time."

Rachel was persistent and good at handling people. "There are physic texts in the library. We keep most of our resources for training there as well as books that some of the teachers here have written. It might be a good place for you to start."

She smiled. "I see no problem with it. If you're as skilled as you say then we could use more hands around here. I'm one of the few who specialize in healing using magic means. Most of the others here are more well-rounded in their studies."

Harry nodded. "Thank you, ma'am." He smiled to her.

"I'll check those out, if I'm allowed. I definitely need a brush up on non-Wizarding world things." He refused to call it Muggle, because he felt that was a discriminatory word.

"I definitely want to work here, with you. But I'm willing to put in time other places, too. I'm not really used to doing anything but working allll the time." He smiled. He didn't know what to do with downtime.

"I know that it's a substance that is able to defeat Akuma. It's the only method where the souls of people trapped within them." He paused, getting his ducks in a row as he thought about it.

"I know I have a high sync rate of over 100% which means I understand it fully and what it wants, which means I am able to use it to it's full extent." He paused again. "Because of my type, it means I am also closely linked to it and I'm... I guess the core for it and use pure innocence. Downside to that is I have a shortened life span." He figured there was at least one more thing to add.

"As for what it is made of, I don't know exactly. I know that it can react to thoughts and feelings one might have though."

"I'll make sure you stay busy then. I've been told that I am a rough taskmaster." Rachel was the sort of person who assigned a lot of homework.

Harry grinned. "Bring it. I welcome a chance to learn, and to work hard. As long as you're fair, and explain things, you'll get no complaints from me."

"Your thoughts and feelings or others?" Her tone was soft and understanding. She found it interesting that he apparently understood it enough to use it to its full extent but couldn't accurately explain it. It wasn't much of a problem since Rachel can infer what it was he meant but she found it interesting.

It might be that he hasn't had this for long or it might be that no one has asked him to explain it. She found, after becoming a teacher, she learned more about the topic and herself. Teaching someone else was a test of mastery.

Rachel laughed brightly. "I'm happy to hear that. I or my grandfather will contact you when we are able. It'll most likely be sometime next month. If it takes longer I'll let you know."

"Sounds good. So... when do I report for duty?" He grinned at her again.

"If you'd like time to learn the facility first then in two days. If not you can start first thing tomorrow." She lifted her phone. "7:00 am sharp. I rely on my phone to tell the time of day down here."

Hers has a little sun on it so that she knows if its day or night.

"I'll be here first thing tomorrow. See you then, boss." He rose, and grinned at her, then turned to go.

"Uh, yes. As dumb as it might be." He scratched his cheek slightly with his other hand as he spoke. While he had been taught things he really was still getting use to actually being asked questions in return, but he thought he was getting the hang of it at least.

"But... Innocence as a whole is not something I try to understand personally. I just understand my own because that's what I need to do what I have to."

"Perhaps a demonstration instead? I'll be able to tell how your abilities work." She had her ways though she wasn't about to explain it. It was up to her grandfather if people learned about the magic here.

He nodded slightly. That was always a useful way. "So you just want me to activate it now right? Or do you want more than that?" He figured maybe more, but he knew he had to be certain.

Rachel held up a hand to stop him. "I think you should wait and show my Grandfather. He'll be able to tell more and this is hardly the place for a demonstration." It was after all, her office.

"I have to contact my Grandfather about a few matters. In about a month he'll address everyone so if you can please speak with him then. Other than that I see no reason why you can't be cleared, after completing the physical of course. There are doctors outside who will direct you."

He nodded slightly that seemed fine. Plus as he looked around, he really thought it was a extremely good call considering the size.

"Okay thank you." He smiled a rather grateful smile. He was at least glad he didn't have to show it it possible get an all clear and a physical was an easy thing to do.

He kept up his polite demeanor, giving off a small bow for a moment. He really was extremely grateful as he turned on his heels and headed to the door.
