VIDEO: Rec Room: September 1st

[Elena doesn’t usually use the video function on any phone but she assumed it’d be easier if those she spoke to knew what she looked like. Her hair is long and blond, her expression calm but guarded. She’s sitting at a table in the recreation room which is only obvious because the door to the pool can be seen behind her.]

Hello everyone. I was looking for volunteers and I figured it was best to take this chance to introduce myself. My name is Elena Michaels and like many others I arrived on the platform; though I’ve been here for about a month now.

[A pen twirls between her fingers as she continues.]

I’ve recently acquired a camera and I’m looking for models. I have at least one volunteer but more would really help. I’ll be in the Rec Room if you want to look at my photos before agreeing. Thank you.

[Elena flashes a charming smile before turning off her phone.]

ACTION: Rec Room or Cafeteria: September 6th - 14th

[She can be found in either the Rec Room or the Cafeteria for the next week with her new laptop placed in front of her. If she’s in the Cafeteria she’ll almost always have a cup of tea to her right which will slowly get cold as she forgets it’s there.

Elena is editing photos though she’ll stop if you decide to look over her shoulder. Her fingers move quickly over the mousepad as she changes the tint to the photos or fades around the edges. The subjects of her photos are mostly people, tastefully twisted and positioned so that the light shines off their bare skin. She doesn’t edit them, leaving their figures, flaws and emotions raw.

She wants to show the human form for what it is instead of the normal perception of beauty.]

[To those who’ve agreed, Elena has set up in a small room with lights, black back drops and other equipment. Some of it is on loan and she needs to get it back to the man at the pawn shop if she wants her money back. The only nice piece equipment that looks very nice and very new is a camera which is strung around her neck.

She flashes a professional smile at those who arrive and closes the door behind them.] Glad you could make it. I need you to strip down. I brought a robe for in between shoots in case you get cold.

[She doesn’t want goose bumps in her shots.]

"Hello?"

Xavin considered this woman who had made the offer, and smiled as she did.

"Are you the Elena Michaels who is looking for volunteers?" She grinned. "I thought I would come to meet you and volunteer."

Elena looked up from her laptop and allowed her eyes the chance to look over the woman in front of her. A professional expression pulled her features as she turned her shoulders to face the stranger.

"I am. Have you modeled professionally before? I ask for specific's from my models though it's easier if I know where your experiences are. I can show you samples if you'd like."

She'd rather make her needs clear.

"Once, briefly, in New York, America. I modeled for women's suits and lingerie for a company there called Elizabeth's Secrets."

Xavin nodded, and smiled.

"I'd like that. How long have you been a photographer?"

Elena felt herself smiling at that. "Then you'd be perfect though most of my subjects aren't clothed. I don't take pictures of sensitive area's but I like to show people for who they are, hopefully beneath the skin as well." It was a fun thing to do.

"A few years though before coming here I was finally going to have a gallery of my own. In order to succeed in any form of art you need someone notable to tell you that you're good. I was lucky to have met one person who like my work." Who then became the closest thing to Elena's best friend though there were still details about her life that she simply didn't talk about.

"Oh yeah? I can do that. I only wear clothing because people object due to moralities if I don't." She spoke matter-of-factly.

"Cool. Well, whenever you are open, I'm ready. I haven't decided to leave or work in the complex yet."

Elena felt herself smile, she knew a lot of people like that though they were all men. "I understand the need for clothing though it's nice to not have to worry about it." Mostly being caught naked after a run.

"It isn't so bad leaving or staying here. I find it's easier here to feel comfortable. The world outside is close to him but it isn't." It's an odd feeling and one that unsettles Elena. She can't call home even though she knows that Toronto exists and she could travel there if she dared too but then there was the warning about traveling to far.

"What is it that you did before you came here? Maybe that can help you figure out what to do here?"

Xavin nodded. "This is nothing like my home. But I like it. So many people, so much expression." She smiled warmly.

"I was a runaway, and a warrior." She speaks softly. "NOt something I know how to translate easily."

"I can try and help but my only advice would be to try something new." Elena rolled her shoulders as if to stretch the muscles along her back.

She didn't know what Xavin could do as steady employment but she saw no harm in helping. She knew what it was like to be a runaway though Elena's case was most likely a little different. "Do you like people?" It seemed like a good place to start.

Xavin admired the other woman with a grin, and she nodded. "I have a lot of different knowledge, and skills, and do not know yet what I want to do." She paused, thinking.

"I... sometimes do. I am not fond of some behaviors and attitudes among humans."

Elena's head inclined slightly. "Oh? What's that?" She was curious and seeing as Xavin had her own view of the world she assume that she'd have a specific reason for her thoughts.

"The knowledge and skills? A lot across different spectrums. Flight training, warrior training, infiltration, mechanized cavalry training, science and computer training, and far more. BUt it was all for sciences not of this Earth." She smiled lopsidedly.

"As far as attitudes and behaviors, the chaos of modern life, as well as the way many discriminate against their own kind, all makes no sense to me."

Elena felt a sad smile touch her lips. "That's true about people. I've studied some of the past but it feels like it's all the same." She didn't really care for violence even though half of her nature thrived in it.

"I was going to suggest something easy to start but if you're able to fight in so many styles I'm sure you can train the people here." Elena wasn't sure what HQ had as far as training but they had a section for magic so she assumes there is a place for more physical means of fighting too.

Xavin nodded, listening. "I hadn't thought of that. Thank you." She grinned, then arched an eyebrow.

"And what do you think about modeling?"

Elena smiled at her. "I would be happy to have you as a model but until I become better funded the pay won't be very good." As it was she was working on a short budget.

"Of course. I will probably look into the other job, too. I like doing different things." Xavin grinned at her. "It's fun to have more than one option on the table."

"That's true. In that case come by this room." Elena scribbled on a piece of paper. "In two days at 2 pm. I'll be set up then and you'll be my first model."

"I'll be there." Xavin took the piece of paper and smiled as she read it, then nodded, rising. "Thank you. I'll see you then."

She extended a cool hand to the other woman, and shook.

Elena shook the girls hand with an easy smile. "I'll look forward to it and thank you." She had high hopes for her work considering the models she's gotten.

Xavin rose, and then nodded to her as she walked out, humming.
