VIDEO: Rec Room: September 1st

[Elena doesn’t usually use the video function on any phone but she assumed it’d be easier if those she spoke to knew what she looked like. Her hair is long and blond, her expression calm but guarded. She’s sitting at a table in the recreation room which is only obvious because the door to the pool can be seen behind her.]

Hello everyone. I was looking for volunteers and I figured it was best to take this chance to introduce myself. My name is Elena Michaels and like many others I arrived on the platform; though I’ve been here for about a month now.

[A pen twirls between her fingers as she continues.]

I’ve recently acquired a camera and I’m looking for models. I have at least one volunteer but more would really help. I’ll be in the Rec Room if you want to look at my photos before agreeing. Thank you.

[Elena flashes a charming smile before turning off her phone.]

ACTION: Rec Room or Cafeteria: September 6th - 14th

[She can be found in either the Rec Room or the Cafeteria for the next week with her new laptop placed in front of her. If she’s in the Cafeteria she’ll almost always have a cup of tea to her right which will slowly get cold as she forgets it’s there.

Elena is editing photos though she’ll stop if you decide to look over her shoulder. Her fingers move quickly over the mousepad as she changes the tint to the photos or fades around the edges. The subjects of her photos are mostly people, tastefully twisted and positioned so that the light shines off their bare skin. She doesn’t edit them, leaving their figures, flaws and emotions raw.

She wants to show the human form for what it is instead of the normal perception of beauty.]

[To those who’ve agreed, Elena has set up in a small room with lights, black back drops and other equipment. Some of it is on loan and she needs to get it back to the man at the pawn shop if she wants her money back. The only nice piece equipment that looks very nice and very new is a camera which is strung around her neck.

She flashes a professional smile at those who arrive and closes the door behind them.] Glad you could make it. I need you to strip down. I brought a robe for in between shoots in case you get cold.

[She doesn’t want goose bumps in her shots.]

[Which was Joey's way of saying yes, he'd appreciate a map.]

Okay. So, what am I looking at?

I'll get started on that and I'll bring it by.

[She turns her laptop so that he can see her pictures.]

These are my photo's.

[Joey spent some time looking at the photos. He'd never really had an eye for art, and it wasn't surprised to learn that hadn't changed. He tilted his head to the side, at least recognizing the artistic quality of the photos. Sure, they were a bunch of naked people, but they weren't meant to be sexual. He could tell that much, at least.]

Wow, how does her back bend like that?

[As he looks through the pictures Elena turns her gaze towards Joey. There is a light smile tugging at her lips as she watches his reaction.]

Models don't get the credit they are due. They work very hard and a lot of my subjects have to stay in the same position for painful lengths of time.

[The whole point of art is interpretation so there isn't a wrong answer.]

I have other photos too.

[She slowly moves her mouse and opens another collection for him to look through.]

[He quirks an eyebrow at that explanation.]

Aren't you just clicking a button? How long did you make them stand there?

[Elena doesn't have to think back very far to know the answer.]

The shoot takes a few hours depending on the idea. The models usually stand in one position for a minimum of twenty minutes.

[It's a long time which is why she has to ask for models and pray that she gets someone who knows what they are doing, otherwise it takes longer.]

[His eyebrows shoot up at the explanation.]

They stand at least 20 minutes like that?

Usually.

[She leans forward, lacing her fingers beneath her chin.]

Does that surprise you?

I guess I'm just not a photographer.

[He looks over to her, then back to the computer thing.]

But I guess I could do it for you.

[Elena feels her lips tug into a smile.]

Would you?

[She's a little surprised.]

Yeah, sure. [He shrugs.] I'm used to just, uh, hanging around places for dames.

Would you be comfortable?

[She raises an eyebrow at him.]

[He smiles in response.]

You never know until you try, right?

[She can't help but smile at him.]

Then meet me tomorrow and we'll see how it goes. Of course you can stop at anytime.

[Elena really doesn't like to force people into things.]

And if you're worried about getting tired you can take breaks.

Well aren't you a nice employer? [He smiles.] I'll be here, sweetheart.

Only sometimes. I'll make sure you get the job done.

[She can be a forceful taskmaster.]

I'll look forward to it.

Is that right?

[For some reason he liked the sound of that, and it didn't have anything to do with cameras.]

[Elena laughs softly.]

That is what I said. Should I not?

[She teases as she begins to shut down her laptop.]

[His face broke into a grin.]

Did I say that?

[Elena laughs as she closes her laptop and slips it into its bag.]

No you didn't. You don't say a lot.

[She ran her fingers through her hair as she moved to stand.]

I should get to work on some of my edits. I'll look forward to seeing you model.

[He chuckles at that.]

You noticed, huh?

[But he nods, standing.]

I'll leave you to it, then.

I notice a lot of things Joey.

[She smiles.]

I'll see you soon.

That's good to know, sister. [He reachs up to tilt his hat before standing.] Yeah, sure. See you around.
