[The video feed initializes as some sort of blast sends it flying into an obstacle in a room in the magic training wing. The angle is odd, slightly slanted, but it affords a view of the action. Gambit pulls himself up from a prone position on a mat nearby, brining his bo-staff to bear against something off-screen...

...and then it moves into view. At least 8 feet long from nose to tail, it stands on its segmented, insectoid legs, bears it's jagged maw of teeth, and issues a hiss from it's gullet, flexing it's fore-claws, and then makes a series of sort, rasping sounds that someone might recognize as a laugh.]

[The giant bug monster struggles with speech, but it gets it's point across. The bo-staff in Remy's hands begins to glow a bright crimson and a nervous but confident laugh come from somewhere in his chest.]

If yo' plannin' on eatin' Cajun tonight, mon ami, yo' better recognize, it don' go down smooth.

[There's a hiss from the creature and it flexes it's four hind-legs to attack.]

Not if I got anything ta say about it, homme. [He didn't step forward, but he didn't back down, either.]

Got a door dere. Why don' you jus' see yo'self out, eh? 'Fore things get nasty fo' ya.

[Elena steels herself as Victor steps forward. She swallows a knot in her throat and glares at the man she remembers from her childhood.]

Stay away from me.

[She all but growls the words though this does nothing to deter Victor. He reaches forward and lightly brushes his figure against her elbow.] Then stop me Elena. You know you can. You're strong enough.

[That was enough for Gambit. He'd taken care of Laura, a poor, lost little soul who thought this was all she was worth for too long, and he spent too much of his life watching people being used by others who thought they were better and thus had some sort of right to it. He reached out, grabbing the man's arm and twisted him around into an arm lock.]

Las' chance, homme. Ya walk away or I break yo' arm.

[Elena can only watch as Victor glared at over at Remy.]

Are you threatening me?

[At the question, Remy grins.]

What was yo' firs' clue, homme?

[Victor isn't by any means anything more than a human from what Elena remembers and so the fist that comes towards Remy is strong but only as strong as a man. Victor never liked violence but he could be forceful when he needed and Remy was getting in his way.

Elena watched and stepped forward but she wasn't sure if she could stop whatever would happen next.]

[Remy dodged to the left, caught the man's fist, and used his own momentum to pull him forward off balance. He swept a leg at the man's feet, pulling his feet from the ground and sending him sprawling to the ground. Remy moved to stand over the man, looking down at him.]

You better stay down, mon ami, b'fore I get nasty.

[Victor fell to the ground, easily toppled by Remy's attack. He isn't a fighter and yet he flashed a cocky smile at Remy then over at Elena.]

Just wait then. I'll have you soon enough.

[Elena stares at him before turning away. She doesn't want to see this and while she's still wearing Remy's jacket it feels very thin. She closes her eyes and wishes that he was somewhere, anywhere else.]

[Gambit gives one last glare at the prone man (if you could call him that) before turning to Elena, moving an around around her waist protectively.]

Come on, chere. Let's get outta here, eh?

[Elena's face was cold and distant. She doesn't look over at Remy but she nods and allows him to lead the way.]

[Remy's eyes flash magenta back at the prone man before leading Elena away from the training rooms towards the dorms.]

So, how 'bout you stay wit' me tonight, eh?

[Her arm wraps around him as they step down the hall, her lethal frame molding against him while her other hand kept the borrow jacket closed.]

I'd like that.

[Remy slid a well-muscled around around her waist in response, protective. He wasn't going to let anything happen to her, and that was one promise he was going to keep.]

Tres bien.

[Elena doesn't know a lot of French, despite living in Toronto for the last year but she knew enough to understand those who insisted speaking in French.]
