He wasn't expecting the sudden jump to another world. It was disorienting. He'd been in his apartment in New York and after the strange change he found himself in a bathroom stall. It'd taken him some time to puzzle out that he had just jumped from one location to another; luckily the strange old man came and explained some of it. Enough to make Neal wish he was anywhere but here.

He held the phone in his palm, feeling it's weight before pocketing it and heading out to explore. He really didn't want to just send a message to anyone and everyone but after wandering around, locating all the important parts of HQ and stopping by the hospital, he decides to send a text. With that done he slipped the phone into his pocket and continued to take a look around. This didn't feel like his New York and the longer he stayed the more he wished he wasn't here.

Neal can be found anywhere though he didn't stick out as someone who was new. He's good at hiding in plan sight.

[Neal looked up and nodded his head.]

That's me. Nice to meet you. You set to go?

[They hadn't given him his tags, but as far as he could tell he was good to go. He nodded.]

Lead the way. I'm curious about this New York, too.

You been to New York?

[Neal looks over at him as he leads the way out of the basement and into the streets. He glances around and as soon as be recognizes things he heads towards a familiar bar.]

[More like I've lived in New York since it was New Amsterdam...]

Yeah, you could say that.

[As soon as their on the street, he grimaces at the stench. Yeah, it was New York, alright. He pulls a smoke from his shirt pocket and lights up.]

You?

[Neal smirks.]

You could say that. Not this New York but I had a place here. I've been all over the place.

[Much like Bigby, Neal is older than he looks.]

Here, this is the place. Don't know how it is here but they got beer.

[He nods his head and turns towards a small corner bar.]

You and me both.

[Bigby didn't really get drunk unless he really tried, but normally, his financial situation didn't lend much to the trying. Here, he'd been given an allotment of money, but who knew how long that'd last?]

If they've got whiskey, I'll be just fine.

Don't worry. They do. [It might be shitty rail whiskey but Neal gets the feeling that this guy just doesn't care.

Neal pushes open the door and holds it out for Bigby to follow. Once inside he beelines for the bar and orders two double whiskey's, dry.]

[Bigby follows the guy in a little more slowly, dark eyes darting around the place, sizing up the other patrons. From the smell, they were mundies, all of them. That was good to know. He followed Neal to the bar and took a seat on a stool, preferring to just keep his back to most of the people there.]

No. You got a name?

[Neal can't help but smile.]

Did I not say that? I'm Neal. Cassidy.

[It's the name he's been using anyway.]

And you?

[He reaches out a hand to properly greet the guy. He did learn some manners, after all.]

Bigby Wolf.

Nice to meet you Bigby.

[Neal pauses and looks over at him.]

You're not the Big Bad Wolf are you? [He's been alive for awhile and he has no idea if this guy is just using that name or not.]

[Great. Just when he thought, maybe, for a little while, he could escape his reputation. He doesn't deny it as he takes a hit from his whiskey, but he doesn't outright confirm it, either.]

Funny. You don't smell like a Fable. Not quite, anyway.

[Neal raises an eyebrow at him, running his hand over his hair.]

I don't know the term.

[It'd been a long shot anyway.]

To regular humans, you came out of a storybook, or you're related to someone who did.

Ah. Well I don't know about a storybook but...

[Neal exhales and then turns to look behind him as if a shadow might be looming.]

My father is in a story here. [He rolls his shoulders in a shrug.] I left that world a long time ago.

[Around 300 years ago.]

You and me both, kid. [Bigby leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms.] Left or got chased out?

Left.

[He glances over at Bigby curiously.]

I was looking for a place without magic. The fairies gave me a bean that brought me here. That was... [He looks down at his beer before taking a drink.] A long time ago.

I've been to a few worlds since then. Sorta by accident.

[That caught Bigby's attention and he looked over to the guy.]

Why somewhere without magic? [Was it something similar to his own Homeland? Did the Adversary's reach expand that far?]

[Neal cleared his throat uncomfortably.]

Let's just say that magic ruined my life.

[Bigby scoffs at that.] It's pretty good at that, but it's not all bad.

[Neal shrugges and takes a long sip of his beer.]

I want nothing to do with it.

[Except it'll probably be magic that gets them home and Neal at least has some magic know-how.]

Funny thing about magic.

[Bigby sat back on his barstool and pulled a cigarette out of his pocket, lighting it and taking a long drag before speaking further.]

Usually, it really doesn't give a shit.

Yeah. I've learned.

[Neal waves at the air.]

Those things will kill you.

Haven't yet.

[He shakes his head.]

It's gonna take more than these things to get rid of me.

Yeah just wait then.

[Neal runs his hand over his palm as he continues to drink.]
