EVENT 3 - HALLOWEEN TROUBLE

Who; EVERYONE! What; Airy has invited everyone to a Halloween Party. Where; Cafeteria & Recreation Room When; October 27th - 31st Warnings; Horror. Airy had sent out a video on the 15th of October inviting everyone to a Halloween Party. She'd also plan to set up activities for people who wanted to get into the Halloween spirit. Most of the decorations would be hand made and a day or two before. A few people mentioned that they wanted to help so Airy made sure to send out text with dates and locations of decoration projects. As Halloween neared people will notice orange, purple and black streamers lining the halls. The children were running around in masks even though it wasn't Halloween yet and the tension in HQ had begun to relax as the excitement of the holiday approached. Those who arrive at the Cafeteria the day of the part will see that it's been completely transformed. There was food and drinks laid out near the kitchen with a drink and candy stations in the opposite corner of the room. The walls were covered in streamers and those who carved pumpkins will see them on a hay display. Some of the tables have been pushed out of the way and there was music softly playing through the room. There were people in all sorts of costumes and some who had decided not to dress up. There were games against the left wall such as bobbing for apples and a Velcro web where you had to toss the spider and make it stick as close to the center as possible. There were little prizes that could be won but all were stuffed animals and all were Halloween themed.

OCTOBER 27TH - Recreation Room

[Airy has invited those who are interested to come make paper decorations in the Recreation Room. Those who arrive will find construction paper and a plethora of craft supplies brought over from the class rooms. There are a few kids there as well as Airy and Belle who've both made appearances over the network. They are here to help and supervise though Belle was making more of a mess with glitter than any other the other children.

Grace - Open

[She's happy to help make decoration. A lot of the younger children there are those she knows from day care. She'll stop and help them when they get stuck on something, always with a smile.

Grace's own self appointed task is to make as many black paper bats as she can. She starts by drawing out the shape and then cutting it out. With one done she traces it onto the others and then connects them at the tip of their wings so that she can drape it across a wall.

If she sees someone she knows she offers them a smile and a soft hello. She hopes that she's doing this correctly. She's never celebrated Halloween before and she has a million questions about the holidays.]

Why do we use bats as decorations?

[There aren't many places in HQ where Gambit can interact with children. After a few years of being a school teacher, though, especially to a group of children for feel themselves on the outside of normal life, made him miss it when it was gone. The irony of that situation wasn't lost on the Cajun, since he did, actually, realize a lot of his own problems back home recently were directly related to feeling trapped at the school and wanting to run away.

Maybe he needed to re-evaluate his life choices. A blind man could see that to be true. Still, hanging out with the kids was a good excuse to fill the void missing it caused, and he was contentedly making decorations with the rest of them in the rec room when Grace looked over to him and asked her question. He smiled.]

'Cause vampires can turn in to bats. Least, some people think so.

Grace - Open

[Grace's lips formed a thin, thoughtful line.]

I don't think that makes sense. I thought only those who used magic could shape shift.

[One of the smaller kids tugged at the hem of Grace's cloak. The young girl turns and smiles at the boy who'd requested her attention.] Grace, can you cut this? [She nods her head and helps the younger boy before looking back at Remy.]

Sorry about that. Why is it a bat and not something else?

Grace - Open

[Remy shrugs, taking a seat next to the girl and picking up a pair of scissors himself.]

Oui, an' maybe vampires use magic. [And his gaze turns knowing.] 'Cause there are some bats that are vampires, too, non?

OCTOBER 29TH - Cafeteria

[Another invitation from Airy but this one is towards the afternoon. There are a lot of pumpkins provided and stencils that people can use. This time Gus is supervising since Airy is focusing on her pumpkin. Everyone is welcome to grab a pumpkin and a small carving saw and have fun. Those who are young will be watched closely so they don't hurt themselves. Unlike other decorations there are less children carving pumpkins.

OCTOBER 31ST - Party Time

[There is food, drinks, games and dancing. There is something for everyone and a few people are having fun dressing up. Airy is there as witch and Nathan is at her side dressed as a wizard, Antonio is making a rare appearance as Dracula. Luther is being a spoil sport and isn't wearing a costume. Gus has on a pair of vampire fangs but is otherwise working out of sight.

Kristen had embraced being a walking throwback in the 50s big band style dress she had found at a shop near One Police Plaza. But at the same time she dreaded parties, something would almost always go wrong...

"You look beautiful." Elena smiles wearing her own costume. She'd never been one for fashion or shopping but it'd be easy enough to go to a Halloween store and ask one of the sales clerks to pick something out for her. She liked it and even without a hat she thought it was obvious that she was a witch of some kind.

"Where did you find that? I doubt it was in a costume shop."

"Resale shop near One Police Plaza to be honest. It was like this dress called to me on the way to work all week." Kristen could smile now. "Plus with a jacket I can wear this to work after Halloween too. And love your outfit too."

"Thank you. I didn't pick it out." She admitted with a bit of a smile. "I'm not really good with fashion. I'm used to my best friend picking out clothes for me."

Elena enjoyed not having to dress herself or she'd just wear jeans and a long sleeve shirt.

Grace - Open

[When Grace arrives at the party she's wearing a little red riding costume. She'd sewn a few parts of it herself and bought a few others. She isn't used to having money but she's good at handling it considering her previous fanatical situation with her father. She doesn't like wasting money if she could help it.

She has a little basket with her and in the basket is a stuffed animal of a little gray wolf. She has her long blond hair tied in a pair of braids that are pulled in front of her hood. It suits her and she's happy to be involved in the holiday.

Grace can be found near the games. When she tries the bobbing for apples she takes off her hood so that she doesn't get it wet but she doesn't manage to get any apples. At the throwing game she winds a little stuffed bat which brings a bright smile to her lips. Everything about this night is amazing and she's having a lot of fun. She hopes that everyone else is too.]

Elena Micheals ~ Open

Elena wasn't one for large celebrations but it was a nice distraction after the odd happenings a month before. She was going to bring her camera but decided against it after slipping into her costume. She want to relax and enjoy herself. She never loved parties but arriving here and losing her best friend had given her an appreciation for all the parties that she'd been coaxed into attending.

She stood near the food holding one of the green drinks in her hand as she watched those daring enough to dance. She wasn't interested in any of the games but she did keep an eye out for someone to dance with or spend the evening speaking too.

Harry and Open

Harry is there, dressed in a silly movie-like wizard robe with stars and moons and symbols on it with a tall hat of the same kind. He grins as he looks around and waves at Airy. He has been settling in here and he loves it here.

It's nice, no one treats him like he is evil, or a king, either, and that is the best part. Well, Hermione is the best part, but she makes him blush.

Airy caught sight of Harry and waved. She quickly excused herself from Nathan's side and ran over to greet him properly. Her smile never wavered.

"I love your costume." It was cheesy which was awesome. "I think there are a lot of witches and wizards here tonight." Including herself. "I mean.... as costumes." She clarifies a little bit awkwardly.

"Are you having fun?"

Harry smiled as he saw her, giving her a smile, a bow, and a raised eyebrow. "You look pretty amazing."

He chuckled.

"So far so good. i'm not really a party person, but I'm trying."

Bucky - OTA

Bucky wasn't used to dressing up and he wasn't used to Halloween parties, but he'd done his best with his costume. It had taken him a while to put it together, and he'd been a stickler about the details, but it had turned out alright in the end. He'd been something scary for a long time; it'd be nice to be something normal for a change.

He hung around the food and drink tables mostly, or meandered around the room and kept to himself. He did eventually make his way to the velcro web game, but he only played once since he didn't think it would be fair to keep going when he could hit the center of it while hardly even trying. He did, however, take one of the stuffed animal prizes, so that he could give it to Grace when he saw her.

Elena wasn’t used to dressing up either though it was more by choice and a natural aversion to such parties. She wore what she felt like was a standard costume. The woman at the store had said that it would go well with any October events and given Elena’s dislike of shopping she quickly purchased it.

She stood near the food or against the wall and watched the others at the party. It was nice though she didn’t think she’d stay the whole night. She spotted Bucky as he made his way around the room. It was fun watching him play the games and she was impressed with how well he did. She walked over holding the strange green bubbly drink in her hands.

“You’re really good at these games.” She pointed to the Velcro web with a smile. “I was watching you throw.”

He hadn't realized anyone was watching him until she said something, and then he looked up from carefully peeling the spider off the web to put it back where he'd picked it up. "Oh. Thanks. I've had a lot of practice." Mostly violent practice, but no one needed to know. He guessed there was a bit of irony in doing this while wearing a baseball uniform.

Grace was having a nice time and dressed as little red ridding hood. She came up to Bucky with a smile, holding her little basket in her small hands. There was a small stuffed wolf in the basket and a few pieces of candy.

"Happy Halloween! Did you get candy?"

Grace was the cutest little red riding hood, and Bucky smiled when he saw her. "Happy Halloween," he said. "You look great." The little stuffed wolf was a nice touch. "I got a little candy." But not too much.

"I won this for you," he added, holding out the stuffed animal. It was a little bear dressed up like a mummy.

OCTOBER 31ST - (After 10pm) Chaos

[10:00PM isn't exactly the witching hour, is it? There's a commotion near the apple bob setup around this time, though, that quickly pales in importance as the lights go out all at once, then begin to flicker in a menacing fashion. All the doorways burst open at once in the gloom, but something isn't right. There are several screams from the party attendees, some of them may even be yours.

With the exits open, the crowd seems at once to decide make for the exits, but escaping into the rest of HQ isn't as easy as it sounds. Other things have appeared in the shuddering darkness, things you didn't know existed, or things that only existed in nightmares...or on the silver screen. You may encounter a giggling, sociopathic doll, scampering about with a glinting knife and a thirst for your blood. Others may find themselves face to face with a seemingly invincible demon that it may be wiser to hide from than to face. Scattered around HQ, you can find aliens, homicidal clowns, a few undead homicidal maniacs, and maybe even an indoor-sized marshmallow man or two. Basically, if it's a monster from a movie or a video game, somehow, it's found it's way into HQ and you need to survive.

At Midnight, no earlier, no later, these attackers seem to disintegrate, the lights return to normal as though nothing has happened. What did happen, anyway? In all the chaos, you might have heard mention of something happening to Airy again, but it was nuts there for a bit. Who knows?]

Grace - Open

[Grace eventually finds herself falling asleep in between the hay bails with brightly lit pumpkins on either side of her. The loud crash shakes her awake in a panicked start. Her heart is pounding and the darkness of the room only causes her panic to rise. She can see the lights of the pumpkins around her and then a few small lights of those around the room.

There's screaming but she doesn't know what's going on. A small figure steps towards her and as it moves into the light of the lanterns what looks like a doll comes into view. Grace pushes at the floor to move away from the puppet but slips on the hay scattered around her and falls face first into the floor. She screams as the doll plunges a knife into her forearm. Tears gather in her eyes as she pulls her arm away, dragging the knife down her forearm but freeing herself from the dolls grip. She scrabbles backwards, swinging her feet in front of her and kicks herself back against the wall.

Her heel slams at one of the pumpkins and the candle light spills onto the puppet setting it on fire. Grace looks around frantically while cradling her arm against her chest. She feels a sticky wetness against her chest and then the warmth that spills from her open wound. Her skin feels like it's been touched by fire and each new sensation of pain only serves to overwhelm her fragile senses. She cries out feeling her tears streak down her cheeks.]

Papa! Please Papa! Help me.

[It's just a bad dream. Please let this all be a dream.]

And that is when Harry skids in, having destroyed a thing or two, his clothing tattered and ash on his face. He sees her, there, and crying out, and he remembers...

A flash of green, and a scream, and a laugh...</I. Before he can even think, his wand snaps down and a blast of water, like a firehose on crack slams into the doll, and the surrounding fire, as Harry snaps off a hex to send it flying. He moves to Grace. "Grace! I'm here." He steps between her and the mess, and keeps looking around, even as he crouches to get closer to Grace, and protect her fully.

[Grace closes her eyes when she sees Harry coming to her aid. She's frantic and as he steps closer she buries her face into the back of his shirt. Her one arm stays against her stomach while the other grabs onto Harry's side.]

What's happening? I want to wake up now. Please can I wake up!?

[She continues to cry unsure what to do or what's happened.]
