EVENT 3 - HALLOWEEN TROUBLE

Who; EVERYONE!
What; Airy has invited everyone to a Halloween Party.
Where; Cafeteria & Recreation Room
When; October 27th - 31st
Warnings; Horror.

Airy had sent out a video on the 15th of October inviting everyone to a Halloween Party. She'd also plan to set up activities for people who wanted to get into the Halloween spirit. Most of the decorations would be hand made and a day or two before. A few people mentioned that they wanted to help so Airy made sure to send out text with dates and locations of decoration projects. As Halloween neared people will notice orange, purple and black streamers lining the halls. The children were running around in masks even though it wasn't Halloween yet and the tension in HQ had begun to relax as the excitement of the holiday approached.

Those who arrive at the Cafeteria the day of the part will see that it's been completely transformed. There was food and drinks laid out near the kitchen with a drink and candy stations in the opposite corner of the room. The walls were covered in streamers and those who carved pumpkins will see them on a hay display. Some of the tables have been pushed out of the way and there was music softly playing through the room. There were people in all sorts of costumes and some who had decided not to dress up. There were games against the left wall such as bobbing for apples and a Velcro web where you had to toss the spider and make it stick as close to the center as possible. There were little prizes that could be won but all were stuffed animals and all were Halloween themed.

Grace was having a nice time and dressed as little red ridding hood. She came up to Bucky with a smile, holding her little basket in her small hands. There was a small stuffed wolf in the basket and a few pieces of candy.

"Happy Halloween! Did you get candy?"

Grace was the cutest little red riding hood, and Bucky smiled when he saw her. "Happy Halloween," he said. "You look great." The little stuffed wolf was a nice touch. "I got a little candy." But not too much.

"I won this for you," he added, holding out the stuffed animal. It was a little bear dressed up like a mummy.

Grace looked confused but as she looked at the mummy her smile slowly widened. "It's so cute. You didn't have too." She took the bear and felt the soft fur against her fingers. She didn't think stuffed animals could be this soft. "Thank you."

"I'll give you candy but you have to say trick-or-treat. That's the rule." She nodded her head while the smile stayed firmly in place.

She didn't think she'd stop smiling.

Bucky shrugged. "I wanted to." He'd thought Grace deserved something nice, especially on Halloween. "You're welcome."

He couldn't remember the last time he'd gone trick-or-treating, or if he'd ever gone, but he smiled anyway. He took a deep breath. "Trick-or-treat." Even if he felt a little ridiculous.

Grace felt as if she could smile forever. She wished that her father was here but when she looked up at Bucky she saw him and she hoped that wherever he was, he was happy and safe. She knew that Bucky wasn't the same person but she was happy that he was here too. It was strange for her to think about and she was still figuring it out but it felt like she had a larger family now.

"It's perfect." Her voice was a little softer before she placed the bear in her basket with the little wolf she had asked for when making her costume. "Treat!" She replied with a bright smile and she pulled a small pack of m&m's from her basket.

"Here you go! You're a very good trick-or-treater." She laughed. "Have you been having fun? I've never been to a party like this before." She's only had tea parties with stuffed animals.

Bucky was glad she liked it. It'd been a long time since he'd gotten to do something nice for someone.

"Thank you." He took the little bag of M&Ms, sliding them into a pocket on his costume, and nodded. "Yeah, it's nice. I haven't been to a Halloween party in-" well. "-ever."

"Not ever?" Her head tilted to the side. "You know. This is my first Halloween Party too. They didn't have a celebration like this in the Enchanted Forest." There was very little that she celebrated.

"It'd be to expensive to have parties like this." Or any parties.

"I don't think so." But his memory was still spotty so he couldn't really say for certain. "It's been a long time since I've had the chance to go to a party." Any kind of party. He'd seen celebrations in his time away from Hydra, watched them from the outskirts, but he hadn't really participated. They'd still been fun to watch and he'd almost felt like he'd been involved with them.

"What kind of celebrations do you have?" Did? "In the Forest."

Grace shook her head. "I had tea parties but we didn't do anything else. I did my chores and some days I'd help Papa find mushrooms. We always turned it into a game though and it was a lot of fun. They had parties at the castle but I wasn't able to go."

She didn't look like she minded at all.

It was simple but it sounded nice. The important part of it was that she had enjoyed it. "Royalty's overrated anyway," he said, as if he would know. "It's good that you've made your own fun."
allineedisyou: (I love you Papa)

[personal profile] allineedisyou 2016-11-09 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Grace nodded. "Anything can be fun if you know how to look at it." That was what her father taught her. "So I don't mind helping out or working because I know I can make it fun too."

She smiled brightly. "I was going to try and play the throwing game. Do you-" She paused looking a little unsure. "Do you want to come watch?"

"That's a good attitude to have." And he had the impression that her father cared about her very much and went through a lot of effort to make sure she was happy.

He smiled. "Sure. I'd love to."

Grace's father had done everything for her and she knew that. Even if he wasn't here now, she knew that he still loved her and would do anything to find her.

"I'm not very good okay?" Just so he knew.

Grace stepped towards the game and placed down her basket. She grabbed one of the Velcro spiders and positioned herself so that she was going to face the strange web. She looked back at Bucky before looking back at the target. When she threw she missed and the spider fell to the floor with a discouraging thump.

"I won't judge," he promised. Everybody started somewhere, and aside from the few who seemed to be born with talent and skill, the only way to get it was to keep practicing and not give up.

"It's okay," he said after she missed. He went over and picked up the spider, gently tossing it back to her. "Try again."
allineedisyou: (Is that what it is?)

[personal profile] allineedisyou 2016-11-14 12:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Grace had no intention of leaving it like that. She wasn't interested in the prize since she had one from Bucky which was worth far more than winning one herself but she wanted to do it and she was awful at giving up. It was a family trait.

"Okay." Her small fingers wrapped around the spider before she looked down at her feet. Once in place she looked up at the target and took a deep breath. She'd never learned how to throw properly and just like last time she throws overhand with all her strength, releases to late and the spider dives to the floor.

"What am I doing wrong?" Grace asked herself as she retrieved the spider to try again.
